Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered multiple other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police state initial examinations show the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; investigators are not yet aware of any physical harm in association with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the public for details.
A senior political figure stated the vandalism made him stunned and required to be solved promptly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine victims by a shooter aiming at residents of migrant background in February 2020.
