19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and finally separating with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's maiden title since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court from spring of 2023.

Success also indicates he has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is particularly special," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

His counter-punching strategy and recurring reactions on the playing surface had caused some to wonder if his ability to perform at the highest level was finished.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and play assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.

He fought back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to push for a third set.

The opponent saved four early-game opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the Russian broke to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
